Podcast In The Classroom



Podcasting is another techno-savvy way to integrate technology in the classroom. The term podcasting combines iPod and broadcasting. Podcasts are audio recordings stored as MP3 files or in another file format. The recording can then be uploaded online for others to listen. More educators or choosing to podcast in their classrooms because it is an new and creating way to spread knowledge and stimulate learning amongst students. Teachers use podcast to record their lecturs and then upload it online for students to have access to it at a later date. Students use podcast in the classroom to hold debates, demonstrate verbally their knowledge of a concept taught in class, for interviews and to even create an audio show. Both teachers and students can benefit from using podcast. They allow teachers an alternative way of teaching and provide an alternative way for students to learn.

Soundcloud is a popular podcast amongst musicians. Artist can upload music and then share them with friends, family and followers.




AudioBoo has an app where you can post it on any social networking site. They also encourage the use of podcasting in education. If you and your students use Edmondo, there is an app allowing you to easily embed recording to your Edmondo page.



 


Members can find podcast best on interest such as sports, music and religion. Podcast can also be found based on location. 








Audacity is a downloadable free software for Windows, Mac and other operating systems. You can record live audio, mix sounds together and even convert tapes and records into digital recording or CDs.



A great way for librarians to use a podcast is to record an audio of their favorite story being read to students. The recording could then be later shared on their blog.I used Soundcloud to record myself reading Henry's Freedom Box. It was very simple to do. First, you must create an account. Next, you can choose a file to upload or start a new recording. In order to record, your computer must have a built in mic. One can be purchase at your local Walmart or elctronic store. Last, review your recording before posting. Use can share it on Soundcloud, any social media site or blog.
